if a hierarchy of color existed, black would certainly top the list. to anyone who works with color, the flexibility of black is astounding. black can also communicate certain moods that cannot be expressed in words. black has become the backdrop of life. it is everywhere we are. to that end, the next three installments will be dedicated to the color black and the myriad of ways it weaves itself through art, architecture, and fashion.
