The most welcoming guest quarters offer more than a comfortable place to sleep. They give visitors the space and flexibility to settle in and feel at home.
Our longtime clients had an upstairs space that no longer served a clear function. Because the home regularly welcomes family and friends for extended visits, the upper floor was redefined as dedicated guest quarters.
The main guest bedroom offers a quiet, restful setting with a prominent view of the water. In the adjoining living area, guests can begin the morning with coffee, catch up on work, or prepare a cocktail at the end of the day. The open shelving keeps glassware and everyday necessities easily accessible for guests. A table and chairs create a practical place to work or eat, while the seating area provides a comfortable spot for gathering.
Existing artwork and family antiques were combined with newer furnishings, allowing the rooms to feel established and connected to the rest of the home. The design is comfortable and considered, but its purpose remains straightforward: to give extended-stay guests enough space and flexibility to follow their own routine.
What was once an underused portion of the house now has a clearly defined role. A bedroom for rest. A living area for everything else. A place designed to make guests comfortable enough to stay awhile.
