The warmth of the afternoon sun blends effortlessly with the cool shade under the lush garden canopy.  Lounging poolside transports the mind to a state of relaxation. Delicate chimes sound as ice collides in the cut crystal cocktail glass as bare feet make their way across the moss covered handmade bricks.

An unassuming first floor hall bath recast into an oasis with pool and garden views creates the ultimate luxury. Large steel sliding glass doors invite you into a spa-like bath from the exterior grounds.  Refreshing without entering the main living space reinforces the sanctuary vibe.

Overnight guests can enter through the homes’ original double cypress doors from the hall. The custom wall hung vanity with three long drawers for storage and an extended open shelving provides added temporary storage during their visit. The curbless shower and freestanding bathtub provide an anything but casual experience.

With creating clean multi-functional spaces, storage is vital. Taking our nod from the home's existing interior doors, we had cypress boards milled locally and installed in a “nickel-gap” fashion horizontally on the wall flanked by the stairwell.  This allowed us to go into the wall under the stairs with a series of drawers and compartments of varying size to create storage for a wide range of items. All of this is concealed by the nickel-gap cypress wall paneling which covers these compartments like doors.

For our clients, a bathtub was essential. Having removed the second floor tub during a prior renovation it was key to integrate into this design. As the entire space required a sloped surface, for the linear drain at the french doors, a low-profile level platform was created for the dark charcoal gray painted bathtub to sit atop.  The extra length of the lower vanity shelf, nearest the tub, serves as a seat or storage of towels during a rejuvenating soak.

We reveled in this opportunity to continue this home’s journey of warmth, graciousness, and quality of living.
